The Big Data for Discovery Science Center (BDDS) - comprised of leading experts in biomedical imaging, genetics, proteomics, and computer science - is taking an "-ome to home" approach toward streamlining big data management, aggregation, manipulation, integration, and the modeling of biological systems across spatial and temporal scales. The primary platforms that will be utilized by students to explore, analyze, and synthesize neuroimaging, proteomics, and genomics data from USC, and other open-source data, will be USC’s BDDS Knowledge Discovery Interface (KDI) system, a user-focused graphically-driven system designed to dynamically create, modify, manage, and manipulate multiple collections of big datasets.
The Center for Computational and Applied Mathematics (CCAM) serves to encourage and facilitate research, education, and outreach in computational mathematics and science through interdisciplinary collaborations of a diverse group of faculty, students, and external partners. The Center hosts a seminar series in which faculty and students, as well as external groups, can talk about their research and activities. The seminar provides a means to learn about research across the campus, and externally as well, and to explore possibilities for interdisciplinary projects.
